Aesys installed an information system consisting on two Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) near the Frejus tunnel, where the need to inform users about the highway traffic and about the weather conditions (most of all the presence of ice and snow), is very important and can't be neglect.
The Frejus weather hard conditions (1300 meters over the sea level): low temperatures, high damp, the strong salinity due to avoid the ice cration, imposed Aesys to care of every details about the panels container structure. The wind speed too (150 Km/h) required the careful installation of two electronic panel supports.
The Aesys dynamic message signs (DMS) installed allow the visualization of traffic informations and notices with great readability from the distance and real-time updates.
The DMS can give informations referring to: traffic deviations, highway exits, queues and way interruptions, emergency situations, control the tunnel entry. The electronic panels can also remember to drivers precautionary rules, for example the safety-belt use, the least necessary distance, the oblige of snow chains use, or the speed limits.
Electronic panels technical features
Both electronic panels installed have an alphanumeric and a graphic display and are based on Led technology. The alphanumeric display have four lines of 15 characters (height 315mm); yellow Led colour; view of horizontal and vertical readability: 30°. The graphic display have a graphical matrix of 64X 72 pixel; basic Led colour (red, green, yellow, blue) composite Led colour (white); control of tons of colour for each pixel: 16 for every basic colour.
Automatic regulation of brightness through sensors optimize the readability by increasing the contrast, in case of the reduction of the reflected light and particular condition (for example fog).
Diagnostic functions (hardware and software) maintain under control the good working of the LED panels and guarantee the correctness of the visualized messages, their colour tons and brightness. These functions also control the power supply, the inner temperature panel and the good connection among display and operations central unit.
The dedicated software allows the electronic panels functions management as the direct digitation and editing of messages (the information can be divided in several pages), the panels turning on/of and so on.
